The domains from these shared IPs showed the worst uptime results for the period of the last 30 days.
A hosting provider with utterly cute website design, FatCow is owned by Endurance International. Founded in 1998, it stands out of the pack with its colorful and friendly brand image. As of this moment, they offer a comprehensive set of tools for running a website, including dedicated servers, VPS services, domains, and solutions for WordPress (which are actually a rebranded version of the common Linux server). Designed to be a provider that sticks to the grass-roots approach, FatCow’s service target audience appears to be small businesses and personal pages.
However, do not let the whimsical name, company experience, and cute logo delude you: the press the company has is far from being perfect. One of the biggest flaws seems to be customer support that leaves much to be desired and which reportedly fails to speak proper English and provide answers. Besides, the plans they offer are rather expensive. To be exact, the first year price is quite alluring, but renewals are more expensive than those of their counterparts.
Still, while many online reviews warn the customers to be careful when buying long-term plans from them, we have a fairly positive impression of their general performance. Since June 2018 they have had only one serious case of downtime, and several less significant cases. The rest of the monitoring period they have had 100% uptime. As for December 2018 they have been in our top 10 several times.
Their response time can’t be referred to as the best – 600ms-700ms on average (if compared to many other providers); however, it is definitely among the most stable ones.
FatCow Shared IPs number fluctuate between 65 and 67, and there has been a decline in the number of websites, not a very serious one, so, it’s hard to comment. Perhaps, some website owners have followed unfavorable online reviews…
