FatCow.com Review Visit provider

Business Name: FatCow

Company Owner: the Endurance International Group

Year of foundation: 1998

Location: Burlington, Massachusetts, United States

BBB Accreditation: No

Market Size: > 100K websites (#15 HRank list)

Growth Status: (by websites quantity): Decreasing

A hosting provider with utterly cute website design, FatCow is owned by Endurance International. Founded in 1998, it stands out of the pack with its colorful and friendly brand image. Designed to be a provider that sticks to the grass-roots approach, FatCow’s service target audience appears to be small businesses and personal pages.

Many online reviews warn customers to be careful when buying long-term plans from them, however, we have a fairly positive impression of the provider’s general performance.

Offers and Pricing

Shared Hosting Plans
Name Domains Disk Bandwidth Min Price Billing Term
Udderly Fantastic Unlim Unlim Unlim $12.95 36 Mo

However, do not let the whimsical name, company experience, and cute logo delude you: the plan (the only one “Udderly Fantastic Web Hosting“, to be precise) they offer is rather expensive.

To be exact, the initial promo price ($4.08/mo) is quite alluring, but renewals are more expensive than those of their counterparts.

The cheapest bargain with them is $12.95/mo for a 36-month subscription.

No setup fees.

As of this moment, they offer a comprehensive set of tools for running a website, including

  • Web/WP hosting,
  • Dedicated servers,
  • VPS services,
  • Domain registration,
  • Solutions for WordPress (which are actually a rebranded version of the common Linux server),
  • Websites builder (3d party – Website Builder),
  • and email and marketing solutions.

Instant Technical Live Support: Yes

FatCow.com support chat

One of the biggest flaws of the company (according to online reviews) is customer support: it leaves much to be desired.

Yet, this does not seem to be true as the live chat support answered immediately, and they offer tech support as well.

The company offers phone numbers and emails as other means of support.

Report for 2018

HRANK# in TOPUptime, %Response, msSites, +(-)Shared IPs, +(-)
  • The provider scored 8.8 HRank rating with us and appeared on the 15th position in 2018.
  • From June to December 2018 it only had one serious case of downtime several less significant cases. The rest of the monitoring period it had 100% uptime. As for December 2018, it was in our top 10 several times.
  • The response time can’t be referred to as the best – 600ms-700ms on average (if compared to many other providers); however, it was definitely among the most stable ones.
  • FatCow.com Shared IPs number fluctuated between 65 and 67 in 2018, and there was a decline in the number of websites, not a very serious one, so, it’s hard to comment. Perhaps, some website owners followed unfavorable online reviews…
